The Cantare Youth Choirs was founded in the fall of 2005. The chorus is fortunate to have attracted an accomplished group of musicians. Several of the singers have participated in All State Chorus, Honor Choruses and have performed at the Georgia Music Educators Association State Convention as members of outstanding high school and middle school choral programs.
A unique feature of the chorus is its emphasis on enabling males, who are in various stages of vocal development, to sing in the range which is comfortable for them. Mrs. Paulette Sigler is known for her ability to keep young men singing through this difficult vocal transition. In addition to developing a pure tone, she has been recognized for her gift in blending female and developing male voices into a single dynamic performing ensemble.
The Cantare Youth Choirs are challenged with diverse literature ranging from the classics and spirituals to Broadway and show tunes. It is the goal of these singers to not only demonstrate that they can perform with technical accuracy, but to communicate the meaning of the text with sensitivity. During our performances, we hope the audience, as well as the singer, will be entertained and inspired.
If you are located in Cobb County, Cherokee County, North Fulton County or the Atlanta metropolitan area and love to sing, contact our director for an audition and more information. The CYC encourages singers of all denominations and cultural backgrounds to audition.
